- Please call the surgery only if you're unable to use any of the above options.
Ordering a Repeat Prescription
When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.
Order Online
You can request your repeat prescription in any of the following ways:
- Order a repeat prescription using the NHS app - Requests go directly to your named doctor.
- Make a prescription request using our online system - Select 'I have an admin query', then 'Repeat prescription request'.
In Person
You can order in person by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription for the required medications into our prescription letterbox during opening hours.
Your Local Pharmacy
Pharmacy Ordering / Collection Service
Pharmacies offer a prescription collection service from our Practice
Your pharmacy can also order your medication on your behalf. This saves you time and unnecessary visits to the Practice. Please contact the Pharmacy of your choice for more information if you wish to use this service.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Questions About Your Prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacist can answer them. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription, please contact us.
Blood Pressure, ADHD and Contraceptive Medication
Some medications require further information to allow safe prescribing. You can use the POD at reception during our opening hours to submit an up-to-date blood pressure, weight and height reading.
Opioid Prescribing
Pain that lasts for more than 3 months is known as chronic or persistent pain. It is common and affects between 3 and 5 in every 10 people. Chronic pain can be caused by an underlying condition (for example, arthritis or endometriosis); this is known as chronic secondary pain.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.
Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
