Prescriptions

Processing Time

  • Please allow 2 to 3 working days for your request to be processed.
  • The cut-off time is 10:30am.
  • Requests made after this time will be handled the next working day.

Plan Ahead

  • Check your medication ahead of bank holidays and travel - order early if needed.
  • Requests made too early may be declined to prevent stockpiling. Submit your request 5 days before you run out.

Important Notes

  • Always name the exact medication(s) you need.
  • We strongly encourage the use of online or electronic methods.
  • Please call the surgery only if you're unable to use any of the above options.

Blood Pressure, ADHD and Contraceptive Medication

Opioid Prescribing

Pain that lasts for more than 3 months is known as chronic or persistent pain. It is common and affects between 3 and 5 in every 10 people. Chronic pain can be caused by an underlying condition (for example, arthritis or endometriosis); this is known as chronic secondary pain.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.

Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
